      Hello again McSteamers.  As most of you know, a new map has been the talk of the server. That time has come to change the map and all its contents. Full reset is set for this coming Friday or Saturday depending on what time zone you live in. If you try and log in, no server, well, good chance the map is being changed over. If you want to take screen shots, finish up any builds, you might want to do that now. Both maps will be available for down load. They will be posted when ready.

      I know a lot of players want 1.8. Not going to happen this time around. I have done lots of testing with Spigot and the plug ins we use. 4 that I know of will not work. 3 of them I can’t test. At this time we will be staying with 1.7.10 with a 1.8 emulator. You will be able to log in using 1.7.9/10 and 1.8 client, you will not be able to use the new blocks that come with 1.8. Same kind of set up we have now.

     We are going try something new this time around. Spawn, TF1, Craft Hall, and School will be built live in game. So when you log in for the first time this coming weekend, you will not be standing on a large built spawn. The first thing will be to get a small area built so when players log in they will be standing on some kind of platform. Next, get the public farm going. Then start working on the school. Once they are up and running, main spawn will be next on the list. Craft Hall will be last.

New server rules:
     1. No griefing. This includes stealing or editing the property of others, even if it is
unbeaconed.
     2. No cheating. This includes exploits, glitches, and mods that give unfair
advantage. Ask staff if unsure.
     3. Do not use grinders, automatic item generators, item duplicators, xp farms, etc.
Spawners have to be fair fights. Ask staff if unsure.
     4. No PVP in non-PVP areas. This includes player traps or attacking players
through indirect means such as fire.
     5. If you die, your stuff is fair game for anyone. This does not apply if rule #4 is
broken, in which case contact staff.
     6. Respect all people. No personal attacks or hate speech of any kind.
     7. No offensive or excessively vulgar material. This applies for skins and builds,
not just chat.
     8. Do not disrupt chat. This includes spam, abuse of caps/chat codes, and
excessive cursing. No advertising for other servers.

     There will be a Rules area on the forms with more information on each one. Any clarification can be found on the forms. Everyone will be expected to reread them when the new map goes live.

     Villagers will be disabled. Why you ask? Simple, Players can’t control the villager population. The last one I removed had 411 villagers in a 4x4 area. Before that 900 were removed. You can pretty much guess how much lag that causes. We prefer player-player trading instead of abusing unfair villager trade rates. This will be better for everyone. Iron golem farm will not be allowed at all. With villagers removed, it will solve that issue. Staff will also be on the look out for massive animal farms. If found, the animals will be removed.

     The wiki is being updated. Check it often for updates.

     We will be removing the excavation pick. This is to keep everyone on the same playing field. The compass will be disabled for about 30 days from the start of the map. Had a lot of issues of players bouncing from tree top, hill top, tree top, etc looking for temples and raiding them. This idea will give other players a chance on getting some of the loot.

some players have been wondering about floating structures. the structure has to look like something is holding it up. if it is a flying saucer, airplane, or something that is suppose to look like it is flying. that is good. anything else you will need to attach something to make it look like it is holding up the structure. Ion engines would work. just make it look good. balloons (lots of them if the structure is brick. pretty heavy).

Rail ways. if you are going to build them above ground make it look nice. bridges need to have supports. not floating in mid air. same with any other bridges that are built.

About the changes:

Map&Version
awsome to hear the new map comming a pitty about the version.
expecting the upgrade of the server plugins.

The Excav
It has to be removed. Its too "cheat-y".
I love it , without it i wouldnt have built that much of railways.
But we are heading for better changes, and more community oriented buildings.
Railways can be done, but with teams. Also huge ones dont think how worth will be with the warps.
but it still can be don for the fun :)

Compass
this is another one ... it might be better to perma-remove to get back to the real survival building.
hard ? yea , but you feel awsome when you get the stuff going :D

Villies
ya they are problems and hatefull at 1.7. generally i burn em all time to time :P
hope review this point when upgrading 1.8, they are more " competent " and not spawn as much as previous versions of MC.

The Community Areas Zero Start
Love the idea.


Some Doubts:

Map Upgrade ?
how big will be the map ?
how the 1.8 will be added on the time it comes ? expanded ? as talked on greetings post  ?

Ranks?
be the same as now ? or the once talked on the greetings post will apply ?

The Up Command ?
will still exist? the same as excav, love it but kinda cheat-y

-Can anyone help with the Spawn/ TF1/ etc areas? I'm not terribly creative, but but I take direction pretty well.
-Will we still have the map? It's pretty handy for the direction-ally challenged.

Last, I have to ask: How.....how do you get so many villagers period, never mind in a single area? I was surprised when I actually converted a single zombie!

For each building there will be one player "in charge". He/she will decide who can help (since it will be done in survival, more people will be assigned as helpers).
Dynmap stays :D there were more pros than cons to keep it up for first few days :D
Players used "dirty" tricks to get more villagers, used game "glitches"/bugs/weird mc villager breed policy. Because of them, those using legit methods are on the loss.

I assume these people will be notified after reset with some details about the buildings they are in charge of?

Sad to see villagers go just because a few players mess it up, i can see using a plugin to disable villager breeding, but removing completely makes it seem like redstone is the only thing left before this server is hardcore creative mode...

As for the other changes, everything seems in order, a shame the death of bukkit caused so much chaos with plugins
